Structured with Shorts
It has become increasingly clear that the bike short trend resurrected by the Kardashians will be reigning supreme this summer. However, many of us may feel that bike shorts are not the answer to our desired summer style (I, for one, can't see myself wearing them in an office), so more "full" shorts may be the answer for those like me. Whatever your feelings are about bike shorts, pair your bottom of choice with a distinct and structured summer blazer. Yes, an extra layer may seem ridiculous in the throes of intense summer heat, but one carved from a light linen with a structured silhouette is a nod to our society's current obsession with the bold style of the 80s and 90s. Above is our interpretation of this trend, our structured but light Chantel Blazer.
As stated above, we all are obsessed with 80's and 90's fashion, and tie dye definitely belongs in those eras. However, it now belongs in ours, and as always the key to making tie dye work is to just have fun with it. The youthful look of tie-dye belongs in summer with its throwback to picnics and popsicles, and you can secure that feeling now by showcasing this print in a comfortable and wearable look. Our Luxe Tie-Dye Dress shown here in 'multi' is comfortable and trendy due to its relaxed t-shirt dress silhouette.
Bold and Beautiful Blouses
Something that seems to constantly be on-trend (and conveyed via may different interpretations) is the statement blouse. The idea here is that the print, sleeves, neckline, and silhouette should be beyond your every day t-shirt or button up blouse; you are meant to stand out in these intricate and eye-catching tops. Tops with billowing sleeves are especially popular, and our Chiffon Greece Top perfectly encapsulates this hot trend.
Not to be too blunt, but if you haven't noticed this trend already unfolding this spring, you have definitely been living under a rock. This trend is a flash black from the early 2000s and is here to stay for quite a while. While athleisure likely will remain popular for the public majority, animal print adds a sense of luxury that elevates whatever article of clothing is being worn. Adapt this trend to summer by wearing it in shorts or comfy tees, or our Leopard Print Romper. Rompers not for you? Do not fret-- we have plenty of other animal print products available on our online store!
As you have probably guessed due to my recurring mentioning of 80s, 90s, and now 70s fashion, fashion is completely cyclical-- for example, something like satin cargo pants from the early 2000s will likely be a hit next year (you heard it here first)! In the case of this summer, patchwork print is coming back strong, showcasing a more eclectic and less minimalist style forecast. Our High-Neck Patchwork Dress is perfect for both showcasing this trend and dealing with the scorching heat while also adding a twist of the 60s with its high-neckline and mini silhouette.
Oversized and Bright Athleisure
While there is definitely a push for lush fabrics and dressed up streetwear for this fall, athleisure is here for the summer months, no matter where your summer might be. Oversized, and almost puffy, shapes are hugely on trend when it comes to sweat pants, sweatshirts, and jackets. Paired with neon hues, this kind of look is perfect for those inclined to a bold and edgy street style. Our Chill Vibe Windbreaker checks off many style boxes (shown here in yellow) with its simple yet bright shade, oversized fit, and light weight texture.
Whew! Wasn't too difficult, right? Take these images and trends and do with them what you will, and don't forget to kick off the first day of summer fabulously!
